The Pro-Hunters still expanded at 350m. Their speed was somewhere around 1650fps.

Seeing as Rudy is a bit reluctant to release BC details of his bullets, it makes it a bit difficult to calculate at what range the speed drops below the 2000 fps that he specified for proper expansion.

Using a thumb-suck 1 fps reduction per foot travelled, the bullet with a MV of 2350 fps should drop below 2000 fps at around 110m.

It might still give damage, though I don't know how much. I have had meat damage with 180gr Sierra Pro-Hunters @ 2400fps.

We spoke along these lines in several discussions - hitting bone almost always causes bloody meat.

Like twice this week, started to formulate a question for Driepootz.
Sat down now to question the use of propellants for mono bullets with twist question added.

Same here - he also helped my wife quite a few times with property valuations, property borders, property registration papers etc. Who are we going to ask now?

I Cody was gifted a box of Spoor 140 gr bullets for his 7 mm. I am calling them half mono 🤣 because of the design/ construction. In the 7 mm 2800 fps is achievable, and I have no doubt of the effectiveness of these bullets at that velocity.

I have two questions though.
I have downloaded some to 2350 fps to try reduce meat damage at 100m or less type shots (80 % of all shots on the Impala)

I have also loaded some to 2555 fps for regular hunting.
Do you guys think there is any problem foreseeable with the 2350 fps load on game.
Do you think there will be a clear notable difference between the 2350 and 2550 fps bullet performance?

Dave, you just explained why primers are flattened. Due to pressure or excessive headspace. Also eplains why primers can look fine even at high pressure if the headspace is very small.

I have explained this as, the primer was ejected to early (usually only moves back a bit later in firing sequence - but loose pockets or undersized primer) and then case followed. The early backwards movement caused the the primer to bulge under firing pressure(predecessor to rupture). The case then followed incorrectly timed and riveted the primer a bit due to primer sidewall bulge from pressure
