Most effective shotgun recoil reduction?

Hi Folks, I hope all are doing well.

I would like to get my wife a shotgun for basic sport shooting - falling plates, stationary clays etc. If necessary, it would need to double for snakes in case of need.

However, she is really very sensitive to recoil - shooting a 222 or 223 is comfortable.

I have a Winchester 1300 Defender lined up for her. How do I tame the beast that it doesn't hurt her?

Measurements to fit a shotgun?

Which are the different measurements to take in consideration when fitting a shotgun?

To be more precise: I want to be able to take my own measurements, then contact a gun shop and ask them to measure a specific shotgun, and then determine whether it would fit me.

- length of pull (inner elbow to index finger's first joint)

- drop of stock - both line if sight to comb, and to heel

What else?

Weet iemand iets oor die Breda Argus haelgewere? Dis 'n kopie van die Browning Auto-5, maar sou die vervangbare parte (vere ens) maklik oor-en-weer pas?

Does anyone know more about the Breda Argus shotguns? It is a copy of the Browning Auto-5, but would thier replacement parts (springs etc) fit back and forth?

12 gauge mag tube dimenions?

What is the inner measurement of a 12gauge shotgun's mag tube?

Saami max specs are 22.45mm for a 12gauge shotshell rim, and 22.55mm for the rim in rhe chamber.

die slagpenne slaan nie al die patrone af nie

die lope skop nie altyd gevuurde doppe uit nie, of skop ongevuurde patrone ook uit

die tweede skoot se meganisme werk nie altyd nie

die aksie skop soms oop

Not long after this little pin killing escapade I picked up a minty Hi Standard 12G riot pump on a road trip back from setting my daughter up at Stellenbosch. Not 10 minutes after getting my sweaty mits on it I broke the firing pin while dry firing it on a chamber flag equipped snap cap. I'm pretty sure that the chamber flag which is secured by a tab that does double duty as a firing pin buffer allowed the gun to fire just barely out of battery which in turn allowed the firing pin to over travel and smash into the firing pin retaining pin. Took some detailed measurements and will try to rustle something up.

He came up with this and got it into production by 2001, many years before any of the other big manufacturers had a go with varying degrees of success. I'd love to have one just for the lekker of it being from one of our own.

Mossberg 930 design flaw?

I have an almost 10 year old Mossberg 930 SPX which I enjoy very much but for the two occasions when it has let me down due to parts breakage. There have been three of those with the first one being a broken extractor. I'll put my hand up for that one as at the time I was shooting a hell of a lot of unnecessarily hot heavy slug handloads through it.

The next two I think are the result of a flaw in the design. The part is a 1.55ish diameter 11mm long pin the connects the bolt release button/front shell stop (right hand side part in pic below) to the rear shell stop (left hand part). The first time it broke, about 8 years back or so, I replaced it with a piece of 1.5mm drill bit shank that I tempered in the oven. No idea how well the tempering worked but the pin lasted for many thousands of rounds and broke again on Friday night when I was getting in a last practice session before our clubs SADPA new years qualifier yesterday.

Stripped it yesterday afternoon and the pin was broken in three pieces exactly as before. Made up a few pins as before and once they had finished cooking I reassembled and tested with snap caps only for the f'n thing to break again. It was at that moment I realised I was a muppet as the fatter, shorter rear shell stop spring was in the parts bowl looking lonely. Redid the job and tested it out at the local indoor hell hole range and ran 50 shells through it in two shot strings all from the tube with an empty chamber which is the condition guaranteed to make it kak with the pin broken.

Given that the pin broke almost immediately on racking shells with a missing rear stop spring I wonder if its a bit weak. Anyone happen to have had the same thing happen or got any ideas? I'm fetching a pump action 12G I bought in 10 days time so this thing doesn't HAVE to do bump in the night duty after that but I'm very used to it and will take a good while to be as confident with the pump so I'd prefer to get it working reliably again.

Shotguns in high wind?

We went to test three loads for the .410 today, when we came to the shooting point the wind was quite serious - easily 40km/h, and probably more.

I could not hit an A4 sheet at 15m, or just barely, with #8 shot @ 1145fps.

Is this common?
