My son found this when he was small - it is just a old broken spoon, but it was once treasure to a little boy.

I am thinking to make it usable, something for him to keep from his dad and his childhood.

Perhaps using some of his other stuff

Any suggestions ?

Let me know if you want a 9.3x74R case to use for a handle.

I'd fix it to the spoon with Steenvas or one of the Pratley's Putty range.

Treeman,

How much metal is left - especially in the handle? That will determine how strong and durable it still is.

If it is still strong enough, the options for attaching a handle are legio:

  • bone handle from one of his target animals
  • rifle  case like on the photo
  • a piece of wood with a special meaning - riveted

Oh yea, its still original solid with layer of rusty on top (or so it appears). At the moment I am toying with the idea of copper shaft into the shell to lengthen it - the idea of his own shot shell appeals, perhaps from a succesful hunt.

Clean it up, see what it looks like underneath. Q10 and steelwool.
