Not sure if @BBT is on this Forum but thanks for the spot  ;)

This I believe is however a very old poll (link).

I believe it has been shared already, even on here and on the "GS" (https://www.gunsite.co.za/forums/showthread.php?107207-How-to-Fight-Gun-Control ) Forum and the PAGFSA (https://www.facebook.com/groups/370373577109/?ref=share ) private Facebook group.

My guess is they forgot to setup a closing/ expiry date for this poll, that's why it's still active.

Anyways, if you haven't voted, please take a minute or two and do so.

"The other thing that is a problem is that they have a very big amount of ammunition. Yes, they might have stolen the gun somewhere but we'll have to find out who supplies these bullets. You'll find out that these bullets are bought by people with licences."

Cele added that there was a need to tighten some of the regulations around the buying of guns, even by those who are licenced to buy arms and ammunition.

FROM THE MJ HOOD & ASSOCIATES ATTORNEYS FACEBOOK PUBLIC GROUP:

Dear Everybody.

I have been a little bit quiet in respect of the core purpose of my Facebook group, because I have been moaning and groaning about the state of the police.

There are three recent developments you need to know about.
The first is that a number of organizations held a meeting with Gun Free South Africa, facilitated by an independent research NGO (whose research has proved valuable to firearm owners).

The consequence of this meeting, which was cordial, was that the parties have agreed that the Firearms Control Act is not properly implemented and that the Central Firearms Registry is dysfunctional and that corruption within this environment is endemic.
At approximately the same time, the South African Police Services decided that they needed to consult with SAAADA and firearm dealers concerning the implementation of the 2019 court order for electronic connectivity.

First SAPS invited SAAADA to consultation. Then, without telling SAAADA, they invited several hundred other invitees. You cannot have a successful three hour Teams meeting with multiple participants.

SAAADA objected to this, because the court order specifically provided that SAAADA be consulted and because the persons and entities invited, did not have the requisite information in order to meaningfully contribute to any consultation. SAAADA made this information available to the participants at short notice but went into the meeting with the distinct impression that the so-called consultation was a "tick the box" exercise by SAPS.

Halfway through the meeting, all participants demanded that the meeting be halted, and that additional documentation be provided prior to actual consultation taking place due to the concerns originally raised by SAAADA. I would like to also add that Paul Oxley of GOSA was in the meeting, and he contributed meaningfully to the debate and fully supported SAAADA's position.

Brigadier Sikhakhane had egg in her face because she asked all the other participants whether they agreed with SAAADA and the participants in turn told her unanimously that they did.
Just prior to the meeting being postponed, Brigadier Sikhakhane let slip that there was only to be one meeting concerning the consultative process and I called her out on the common section of the Teams Meeting in this respect.

This confirmed the impression of a "tick the box" exercise.
To make matters worse for SAPS, they produced a set of minutes that did not reflect the contents of the discussions. SAPS indicated in the meeting that they would provide documentation requested within seven days. This was translated into the minutes that we as the industry would make our submissions within seven days, which was not agreed because we cannot make submissions until we have up-to-date documentation and understand the nature, scope, ambit, and substance of the tender. So much for consultation.

You will find on this page, the minutes and SAAADA's response through me.
Then some bright spark in the Western Cape in FLASH (you can draw your own conclusions from the letter, which I will post as well) decided that an inspection must take place of all firearm dealers for ammunition sales, propellant sales and "self-loading kit sales."

SAAADA had to point out to them as per the letter, also on the group, that there is no such thing as "self-loading kits sales" and if they were referring to reloading equipment, it was not regulated.

Furthermore, sales of propellant fall under the Chief Inspector of Explosives and not FLASH.

Aluta continua!

Sincerely

Martin Hood.

What utter tossers. They can't even be good at being sneaky.

Thank you for posting this stuff, most of us would never even know of it if it was not for your contributions.
I am who I am - I am not who you want me to be.
Therefore I am me.

Thanks, Treeman  :)

But it is most definitely a collaborative effort.  8)

Although the Groups and the various threads have been around for a while, I do however wish that "we" could get a lot more active participation. Simply put, people just take 30 minutes or so and actually, physically send out responses (emails) when a link (article) is posted.

I do believe it will happen, and there are many individuals out there who would make a positive contribution to the group, we have just not "recruited" them so to speak.  ;D

And as always, if you know of any like-minded individuals, that would actively participate please share the Group link with them.  ;)

Sadly most people are happy to bleat on a forum for hours but couldn't be arsed to spend 10 minutes writing a response to a one eyed article.

Carlo Petersen | 17 November 2023.

CAPE TOWN - Gun Free South Africa (GFSA) has called on government to implement tighter controls on legal firearms as they remain the biggest source of illegal ones.

This after Police Minister Bheki Cele released the country's latest quarterly crime statistics on Friday.

The figures show that at least 34 people are shot dead in the country every day.

GFSA director Adele Kirsten says two things need to happen for the tighter control of guns in South Africa.

"One is for the minister (Cele) to bring the Firearms Control Amendment Bill to Parliament so that the loopholes can be closed."

She said that the second measure concerned the Central Firearms Registry.

"Secondly, the police have to make sure that the Central Firearms Registry is fully functional and is able to track every single gun owned by both civilians and the state from cradle to grave."

Kirsten said that another concern was the increase in the number of police officers being killed.

Greetings @ Everyone.

Unfortunately, we don't get to pick and choose when an article, comment etc is made.

Please forward the below video to 2 minutes for the comments by Bheki Cele.
