So here I go again. I managed to get a box of .270 Nosler Partitions in 160 gr, a bit pointless because there are only 50 in the box. The good news however is that a local bullet maker is interested in making the bullet for me cup and core style.
I honestly believe this 160 gr in .277 will have penetration of note and that a cup and core bullet will be usable to better wound channel results than any 150 gr mono or premium bullet.
Has anyone on site ever used a 160 gr bullet in their .270 Win ?

In a 1 in 10 twist rifle Gyro Stability calculates at 1,67 at your altitudes. Should stabilise well and give hunting accuracy.

Can you give comparable weight for another similar calibre?

It sounds like 200gr in a 30-06?

What speed would you achieve with it?

Tripodmvr

Using S365 with the 160Partition a speed of 2800fps is safely possible.

Max speed is not a safe accurate load. Depends on barrel length as well. I have used a 24 inch.

100fps might relate to 1 inch at 300m.

I must really get down to reloading these 160 gr I have, was hoping to get some more to have a useable amount.
My quick Load seems to have died, must find out whats wrong with it other than being about 12 years old.

I've shot 160gr Speer Cup n Core in 7x64. 0.2mm wider in diameter than a 270. They penetrated Ok, and did a lot of internal damage as I had a lot of cup core separation with these.

Do not think the separation was due to it being 160 Gr ??

Speer 160 BTSP. 2850fps would be the speed for a 24 inch barrel.

They were going at 2700ft/sec. They broke up because they are not well constructed bullets. No bonding between the cup and core. But they were pretty lethal with all the bits of lead and core going off in different directions.
