General Discussion / Old question: milsurp in a hun...
Last post by Ds J - Today at 09:56 PM
In searching for possible reasons for the headspace problem with my 308, a member asked whether I shot R1 (7.62x51) milsurp in the rifle.

Yes,I did, and I don't know how many shots. It might have been a good 200 shots, on and off, over ten years. It might also have been a little less or more.

Could that have made a difference, or caused headspace trouble?

Reloading Methodology / Re: rhino 270 solid shank 160 ...

How does the length compare to a regular cup-and-core bullet?

If it is longer, one might be able to get closer to an answer by comparing it to a 180gr C&C bullet.

I know this because I used to shoot 130gr Impala LWHV in my 308; they had the same accuracy as 180gr bullets.

The stability of 160 gr bullets in a .270 Win 1:10 twist is pretty close to the edge, I can not see this solid shank = more bullet length, added length helping.
What are the opinions in regard to this bullet and stability ?

That said, I ask again for the  members to ask around, can anyone find some nosler 160 gr bullets for me. I do not wish to do the whole job to find no stock available.

oom Drie, I have just lost enthusiasm in the reloading, almost like common sense kicked in. I have hundreds of reloads for every caliber I own and will likely not hunt through my stock. I also have for instance, about 300 .270 bullets that still need loading before i will "NEED" new ammo, so why reload more ?
I know this is a "kak" attitude to have, but has kinda just slipped in.

What do you need - inspiration from us or a swift kick?

I still need to get to this load development, bullets have been lying on shelf for 2-3 years now.
