I reckon I win but lets hear it from you chaps
500 Jeffery.
From the shoulder or from a control point ;D I think I know where you going, you mos a Simonstown chappie ey? Rings a "Bell"
Rather difficult to fire a 550mm torpedo from the shoulder or hip but a few of us sub boys did shoot a 20mm sniping rifle from lower north gun battery in early 86
Does 12ga count? ;D ;D
Handgun: 454 Casull , rifle CMS 20x82 mm
I can't beat you Jimmy the Thug, but I can equal you. Served Emily Hobhouse, 1975 to 1980, torpedo rating. Brian Isham.
Greetings 279. 571 here
Love and Respect Jimmy.

Brian, Jimmy has a habit of hauling me off to some far town for him to meet up with some sardine mate of his from when he was playing down under.
Perhaps there is a road trip in the making.
Come on up. Winter weather is great here and we have a (previously military) range a few km's from my house in the bush.
I collected a Russian submariner watch that your dad gave me a year or two ago
Old age and brain degredation is getting the better of you Jimmy, my old man died about 20 odd years ago. You got the watch from me (and if I remember correctly, collected it from my son as I had moved to Mpumalanga). 😂😂
I thought about that after I posted. You qualified about 10 years before me and the lightbulb did go on but before I could correct it the site was in admin mode.
But snorting did suck out the good brain cells
Its the wine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, the wine did his memory, got box's of wine stored at my place from The Thugs mates in C/T. My mates, think I am a wine collector thanks to the Thug.
Mind ya, if the Thug should disappear for some reason someday, selling his stock here at my place should be a worthy exercise.
Mine was a 458 Lott from the shoulder and a .50 BMG from the bench. Fell in love with the Lott till I realised what it's refills would cost me.
Im a avid big bore member and love big calibres
Had the pleasure of a 458, 450, 470, 500NE, 50cal and a cannon 🤗

Totally know what you mean definitely not gentle on the pocket
My 500NE I had to load with 112gr of propellant per cartridge with a 500gr bullet .... Our average shots per bigbore shoot is between 25-38 rounds 🙈 LOADS AND LOADS OF FUN but certainly not cheap. 😁
:o :o

We just commented in another thread that the 6.35, 25 ACP uses 1 gr propellant, perhaps shoot one of those, get someone to hit you with a baseball bat and play the bang back through loudspeaker played on max volume. Should get similarar kinda result only cheaper.
;D ;D ;D
155mm (G5 and G6)
From the shoulder, my .416 Rigby

With an artillery background I still can't compete the sailors with their torpedoes :D

Can I count a ripple of 24 x 127mm rockets as 1 x 3048mm? ;D
OK, you win ;D

I'd really like to have the training for the formidable G6, I've only seen it live at the South African Museum of Military History, Johannesburg. If you know a guy who can make it happen, please let me know ;)

It is an awesome piece of kit.
Sadly I see the previous CO of our School of Artillery was only there till end March 2020 - he was course leader when I did my officer's training there many years back - not that I would have been able to arrange a trip in one of these while he was there, just that he was someone I respected and I knew he ran a training school to be proud of.
Some of the other toys we played with in my time (excluding the Bateleur and Vulture which I never saw myself).

A small group of us also trained with 120mm mortars to be used in air drop applications.
And now I am way too far off topic, sorry ;D
But 12 x 550mm still wins

How long does it take to fire 12?
Technically I don't see why you could not hit all the manual triggers at the same time but just checking with the chaps as target acquisition systems may not allow it. Just asked for clarification, shall come back with a definitive answer.
All ar pretty much once is possible but a firing solution could only be sent to 2 or 3 at any one time.
