Some interesting hunting in some fascinating country

Not the feared place of the - Gulags

A bit like Alaska but different

The R4 rifles had a built-in bipod.  I am pretty sure that it should be possible with a hunting rifle too. A fold-over type like the Steyr Scout should work well.

I gather you are hinting ?
One could at one stage find a "demo" copy which was actually quite useful
I had to use the "Wayback" machine to find it again - seems it was sent to Folder 13 - where Internet stuff that people no longer want you to have .. fades away

Although of course GRT is FREE

Quote from: Treeman on May 05, 2024, 09:29 PMI have hundreds of reloads for every caliber I own and will likely not hunt through my stock.
I know this is a "kak" attitude to have, but has kinda just slipped in.
I will help you get over your "kak" attitude - by taking your "excess" off your hands ..  :)
Do you have .30 cal bullets ?
Specifically those extra long heavy slim ones - bonded core / mono-metal
Needed for - "experiments"

Some time ago I touched on using compressed air .. the pressure needed for complete forming I discovered was 12,000 psi ( 828 Bar )
This idea caused a lot of concern as compressed air is dangerous - as dangerous as the gas from a fired cartridge ( in a rifle ) - 65,000 psi ( 12,000 vs 65,000 )
Anyway
The other method is .. Hydraulic forming using water - one can purchase special dies for this purpose

Please see here

Hydraulic Forming

Especially post no #20

I am sure my machinist buddy could make one of these
I am quite sure one could easily reach more than 12,000 psi
Although hydraulic oil under big pressure is as bad as compressed air

Another item to put on the list of experimental things to make  ...

Something that integrates into the fore end like a Steyr Scout would be quite a trick. I'm sure there'd be a way to do it if it hasn't already been done.

I was thinking along the lines of bipods that are more ergonomic/less sharp edges to carry compared to the Harris 6-9" or equivalent.

Alternatively, getting a bipod with a quick release system, or something that slips to the side?
