Both flashlights feature a step down mode, full lumens for 90 seconds then they step down to 600 lumens for 4 hours to preserve battery life.

Please explain more exactly, I think I know what you mean, but just to be sure.
So dual fuel means that the light can operate off 2 separate types of batteries, in this case 1 x18650 or 2 x CR123A as a back up.
You also get triple fueled lights that run off 21700 or 18650 or 2xCR123A.
Personally I prefer a flashlight that can run of separate types of batteries as it allows me more options.
So in short you could run it off some other battery, from say your other brand torch or or night vision.
