Title: Bush Buck as a meat ?
Post by: Treeman on May 28, 2023, 09:07 PM
Just how is bush buck meat rated ? -Is it one of the "you killed it - use it" animals or one of the Fallow deer, Gembok wow meats ?

I have read different reports. In "Fanie se veldskooldae" by FA Venter he talks highly of it. If memory serves correct my late dad also spoke highly of it.

I ate bushbuck stew when I was younger, and cannot remember anything good or bad. It tasted gamey.

My mom is wary of old buck's meat. She says it smells old and stinks.

Bushbuck ewes are hardly ever shot. That should be tender and tasteful meat.
