I was attacked in my car a few years ago, the story is too unbelievable, so I have never posted about it. I saw this today and it was a hammer to my "forget it all" approach.
This video is almost me, but I was pissing blood and had stuck a .303 case wrapped in a piece of my shirt in the entrance hole. I thought I had shot my femoral ;D but ya nee ! I had not.
I saw this guy now all calm, and remember the girl in the ambulance asking how I could still joke about it. I had made a joke about, " ya I shot through my leg to get him, stupid ya !, but I am in a ambulance on morphine on my way to as good as hospitals get, while he is hurting real bad somewhere in hiding.
Cops shot him and some mates dead a while later ;D

Just seeing this made me think again, "ja who is gonna believe this" I almost know exactly how he feels.
If possible - please tell a little about the psychological process afterwards?

Nothing ! I think people around me were more affected than I was. I experienced a tremendous amount of self anger at screwing up, I missed (we think) my target at a distance of 12 - 14 inch's. I spent a lot of time berating myself about that.
I still find myself angry at times because I realized again that he is likely still alive, walking about.
Thats the only part that I would say is different about life before and after the shooting.
I have replayed the matter over many times, and I can not blame myself, there just was not time to realize, figure out that my barrel was stuck in the tear in my pants and so badly off course.
I was also lucky enough to have Cammo from Gun Site chat with me a few minutes after it happened, he had just recovered from his shooting.
So, trauma, nightmares, flashbacks etc zero, zilch - none.

Glad that you came through it physically and mentally on top. Could have been so much worse. I think that the interior of a vehicle is probably the most challenging environment from which to fight off an attack.
No trauma is always good news. I think a lot of our harsh everyday environment serves as preparation foe trauma. It is not whether it happens, but rather only when.
