I was testing a new powder, getting some velocity numbers, and I clipped two of the aluminium rods on one side of my Prochrono chrony. No big deal, 6mm aluminium rod, just a stop at the hardware on the way home.
Moving over to the dustbin on the range, getting ready to drop my trash in, and there is a demolished Prochrono body with the aluminium rods and reflectors intact.
Happy co-incidence, I salvaged the rods and reflectors. Motivation to upgrade to a radar unit.
Not sure why you still have an optical chrony. If you can afford to sling half inch diameter projectiles down range in front of a quarter tin of powder per shot, a second-hand Labradar should be pocket change.
Truth is I always try to do things on the cheap first.
The chrony works perfectly, the only reason I would change it is for a unit that can give a BC estimate.
I've got one project left still in the works, any leftover budget will go on a Labradar Mk1.
Was this at Rooikraal? Thought I heard someone shot a chrony when I was there last Sunday.
Yes

It was.
