In your email, state the user name you require, and your first and last name. The email address you send the request from will be the email address registered on the forum.
You will then receive a confirmation of membership via email, and your default password. You should sign in and change the default password to one that you prefer.
I've chosen this approach because it's becoming very tedious to have to swat attempted spam sign-ups on a daily basis.
