Title: Budget rifle cleaning stand.
Post by: big5ifty on Jun 22, 2025, 08:11 AM
I wanted a second stand to clean rifles on, and I was a little taken aback by what they cost now.

This is made from what I had lying around, I did go buy the 1 meter lengths of steel tube, the endcaps for it and the 75mm square wood.

Very nice design, consider it stolen. All I'll add is a pair of those ball end rubber bonnet catches like they used on Baja bugs for holding shotgun barrels

The wood is glued together, before held with coach screws.

All pieces are supported, so there is no torque when the rifle is heavy.

Very neat. Have rethought the bonnet catch idea. Am rather going to have a hinged curved arm on the top with rubber on its inside edge. Will have it pivoting on a thumbscrew so that it can be secured against the top of the shottie barrel/s.
