Pre buy survey - Silencer.

Are the silencers with muzzle breaks on end any better ?
Worth it ?
Effective?

I have no personal experience,  just heard a few complaints in our LGS and in private that at least some of these muzzle break silencers are louder than one would like them to be. The reflected sound apparently gets directed to the side, much to discomfort of people next to the shooter.
