Following on from a Jaracal member that was scammed out of R1000 trying to buy advertised reloading dies, a list of advice that is good to apply.

If it is too good to be true, Red flags should start waving.
If you have not inspected, you have neglected.
Ask someone to inspect the item on your behalf.
If the seller does not want to meet to have the item inspect (Condition and workability) or always have an excuse, cancel the deal.
Never E wallet, Bitcoin or EFT to smaller banks like Capitec or Tyme bank.
Never pay as Gift or Family and Friends on Paypal.
Watch out for post count of seller. Newbies and low post count should wave another red flag.
Watch out for post that verify seller or give good feedback of seller from Newbies or low post count members.
Google search photo and look out for photoshop photos.
Google website and address given.
Lookout for misspelling of words or incorrect info of item
You are being pressured to do the deal and transfer money asap.
Seller is getting rude when you ask too many questions.

Some good advice.

I also ask for work place, nice if the guy works for a brand name or has a registered business that can be phoned or contacted.
With all the forums and sites around, checking how well known person is on the net also helps.
I am who I am - I am not who you want me to be.
Therefore I am me.
