Greetings

Does anyone know if these rifles were ever sold in South Africa ?

I was recently visiting a local gun shop where a customers rifle was being cleaned
After asking I was told it was a Husqvarna in .308
Sounded interesting to me as I had never heard of these rifles in SA
Was definitely a Mauser style bolt and action

Rifle had a nice scope mounted

What was even more interesting is that the barrel looked stainless steel and had been fluted and crowned
One wonders if this was a re-barrel job ?
What was more than intriguing was the "owner" - who just shouted INCONGRUOUS
Not at all the sort of person one would think to own such an unusual set up ?
I obviously could not ask to see the license

I am sort of thinking rifle handed in for destruction and diverted and somehow "put on the market" and re-licensed ? With someone making quite a bit of loot - seeing as they acquired the rifle for free !

Would that make any sort of sense ?

I have had a few Husqvarna, all on Mauser action. The barrel was likely replaced yes.Very good rifles and the actions still demand good money.
I am who I am - I am not who you want me to be.
Therefore I am me.

OK
I seem to remember that the bolt looked a bit short ?
Did these Mauser actions come in a - short action version ?
Rifle was chambered for .308
Also remember that rifle had what looked like a Harris bipod - made me even more suspicious ( the whole package )

Do you know who the agents were - who imported them ?

What a convoluted story ...
Appears the FN Mauser copies were the ones to look out for
NO specific short actions just bolt and magazine constrictions

Serious short action guys going for aftermarket custom actions based on Rem 700

I once handled a P-38 copy built by Husqvarna. And I have seen various rifles advertised. So yes, they were imported.
