Hi there,

I am interested in making my own chest rigs, for fun.
Looks like the SADF pattern 83 is still held in high regards for its simplicity and functionality.

Does anyone here have any feedback on them or actually uses on?

The Pat 83 chest rig was intended to be used with the H-frame and bag (large back pack), as when you are deployed for several days.

It should be usable on it's own, but then you carry ammo only, so it can only work for very short deployments.

The Pat 83 "battle jacket" was used for a 1 day deployment. It has space for a ratpack (MRE), water and other supplies.

Both work well for their intended purposes.

I am the proud owner of a basic, modern German battle jacket. Very sturdy and carries well. I use it for short trips to carry water, ammo, and similar necessities.

Please PM me a number and I'll send some pics.

223, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with the whole pattern 83 kit.
Huge improvement over the 70's patterns and pretty much ahead of its time when it came out.

The battle jackets look amazing, but they sell for a lot of money.

Ds J, thank you very much, I have your contacts from GS. I will pop you a message.

I want to make a few ammo pouches that are based on the design, but for range use, not tactical use.
