Mine are very similiar to the image below - 18mm dowel I think and a couple L brackets + bolts.

I think that old guy is getting himself ready for a .. "scope-kiss"

Not the old R1 which many of us "oldies" used
Unless you were *lucky*  to have a heavy barrel - which had a bipod
