Can't imagine how rich I'd need to be before I could take one of those on a rough shoot. My bird gun comes back from one of those long weekends with some wounds every time regardless of how much care I take. Putting a weekends worth dings into one of these would hurt me in the soul.

The simple beauty is enough to consider a bank loan ;)

No, not serious. I guess the nostalgia of the very old, accompanied by the functionality of modern technology makes it exceptional.

I'm going to hazard a guess you've not bought something like that. There's a reason that guns come in different grades.

If I was staggeringly wealthy I would have any number of guns of this level of craftsmanship but it's unlikely I'd pull them through my ring piece in the field. I'd have their field grade siblings for that.

I have had some beautiful to look at things and found them to become burdens.  I bought a Colt Bakkie, brand shiny new, only to sell it 3 months later because the stress of scrapes and dings was just not worth it. Came out from shopping and someone else had dinged the door with their door - that was it, sell it. I want a vehicle I can pack my rifle and bag + kit out on bonnet before walking off on a hike.
I had a friend, he was WW 2 child, that ran away to the East at 14 15 years old, lived all over the Arab world. In his time back in the 60ties, the new worlds discovery time he amassed a lot of amphoras, swords and Arabic antiquities. As a child I would sit and stair for hours and clean the stuff if allowed. While he owned it it was special and wow ! I wish. Before he died I was given a lot of the stuff, a beheading sword, a small amphora, silver daggers and and so forth. He had it on his walls on display and I envied the stuff, now that I have it its locked away in a safe. I am too scared it gets stolen.
Possessions' are a burden, the greater the value or love of that possession the greater the burden is.
If my R20 000 SS Ruger .270 ( my FAVOURITE bestest rifle), I would just buy another, its just a tool, object what ever.
If my Mothers Fathers old Gegado pellet gun R1000 got stolen, I would never stop trying to recover it.
The guns you mention, love them, enjoy seeing them, they do not however make me wish and think "if only".
Actually, I do not really believe you could own, and use a gun like that and HUNT PROPERLY - hunt, not shoot.
I am who I am - I am not who you want me to be.
Therefore I am me.

On the contrary: have a look at the rifles used by some of the old, well known hunters. They had some very expensive guns for everyday purposes. Why - because those were the best.

It is for the same reason that some farmers buy a Land Cruiser. Yes, some do it for the shine, but some truly need it.

Best or Royal grade type finishing of a gun does nothing to improve its function over an example finished to Field grade. Most of the working guns of the famous African hunters I'm aware of were from fine manufacturers but tended not to be of the highest grades of finish. The figure and finish of the wood and engraving of the action are just like jewelry and makeup on Betty or shiny wheels on a Landcruiser.

Now this I can go with, the best usable, practical etc,  I was about to answer post # 8 on these lines.
Also make it clearer what I was saying, or trying to say.
I will rather have a 10 yr old diesel Land Cruiser 4x4 than the latest 2 WD 250 KW bakkie. A rifle made by Rigby is all good and well yes please may I own one some day please, but once ya put a 10 000 Doller Burl Walnut from a 800 year old tree on that rifle, it becomes an artefact, a piece of art etc etc, not an rifle I desire to own.
