What I have seen with her .303 is that the sharp edges of the pitting smooth down quite quickly. Fouling did not increase as quickly as expected.
To make this process faster, you can put some Iiosso on a tight-fitting jag and run it up and down the barrel a few (50) times. I used Brasso that time...

I cannot agree with this for pitted barrels, - worn yes, but not pitted. Soft bullets will smear and tear and deform

I fed the wife's. 303 with normal Sierra bullets and the accuracy was just fine.
Don't you think that perhaps the the bullets may be to blame? Pitting is usually not the accuracy killer that most think it is.

I have pondered this question as well.
Pits lessen the structural integrity of the barrel, hence I assume that a kaboom situation is more likely. Once cut in, a mono bullet is said to have less pressure than a C&C bullet but how does it influence the erosion at the pits?
